Double opal planets space marble - white planet over a blue nebula with large distant green planet

Lots going on in here! At the top a small black opal floats over a blue nebula which I've packed with tiny 'stars' that glitter as its moved. In the background is an even larger opal that shifts from blue to green, mirroring the green/black/blue shift of the smaller opal above.
The nebula is a real 3D effect using my own 'recipe' of silver fume & coloured glass. For my marbles I use high quality laboratory grade borosilicate (often known by the 'Pyrex' trade name) which is ultra clear to help create lenses & the optical illusion of space and distance. The Gilson opals I use are created over 12-24 months in a laboratory using the same minerals as natural opals, but have no water content so are safe to encase in glass where they make wonderful ethereal looking planets. As this is handmade glass there may be some surface imperfections and/or bubbles in the glass. The marble is about 43-44.6mm across (1.75 inch)
